Hello there! My name is Carsten, and I'm the proud creator of bankholiday.net, a website that provides inspiration and ideas on where to go on a bank holiday in the UK and Ireland.

Let's face it, long weekends are the perfect opportunity to explore new places without having to sacrifice too much of our busy schedules. But with so many incredible destinations to choose from, it can be tough to decide where to spend your precious free time. That's where I come in - I'm here to help you find the perfect spot for your next short break (a.k.a. staycation).

But why focus on the UK and Ireland, you ask? Well, during my university years, I studied History and English, and I've always been fascinated by the rich heritage and culture of these lands. I was particularly drawn to Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and James Joyce's "blue book" (a.k.a Ulysses), which inspired me to create a website about each of them.

After completing my master's degree, I pursued a career in digital marketing. It's been quite a journey and over the years, I've developed a passion for digital communication, and I've honed my skills to create a website that's not only informative but engaging and user-friendly too.

When I'm not working on my website or traveling to new destinations, I work for an air freight logistics company, which has given me plenty of opportunities to explore even more of the world.
